The Bush administration notified Congress on Tuesday of plans to sell up to $535 million worth of F/A-18 fighter jet upgrades to Switzerland, the Pentagon announced on Wednesday.
The Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency said the Swiss government asked to buy the equipment to upgrade and extend the life of 33 of its fighters. The proposed sale would include improvements to the infrared radar, electronic warfare countermeasures sets, cockpit display systems, global positioning system and voice/data/video recording equipment, the Pentagon said in a statement.
The principal contractors in the project would be Boeing Co (BA.N: Quote, Profile, Research), Northrop Grumman Corp (NOC.N: Quote, Profile, Research), Raytheon Co (RTN.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and Lockheed Martin Corp (LMT.N: Quote, Profile, Research), it said.
