@Kai, as far as I'm concerned, there is no dispute. As said, everybody is entitled to their opinions and decisions. You have yours, and that deserves respect, but so do those of others. The only point I wanted to make is that
"It's too expensive for me" and
"It's a rip-off" are two different statements. The latter, whether explicit or implicit, may pass judgment on those who may have reached different opinions. Just as
"I prefer Brand X because of reasons Y and Z" and
"Anyone who doesn't buy Brand X is making a mistake" are similarly different statements to take an inverse example. That's all there is to it. It's just a courtesy thing.
We do welcome opinions, the franker and more tangible, the better. Simple "wows" are always appreciated, but they don't tell us much. And if we can be of help, we do and try to inform, which is why we are happy to engage with the modelling community on various media. Opinions of people who have actually experienced a product naturally carry more weight. It’s why we've enabled a review feature on our website that give people the opportunity to share their experiences on products they actually bought and used. Every review, regardless of score, is published without moderation, because not doing so would be judgmental, not transparent and above all disrespectful to people who took the time and effort to share their opinion. The only exception we make is that it should not contain contain abusive language. We believe that authentic reviews, positive or negative, help fellow modellers make better-informed decisions, because we can say all we want, in the end the voice of the customer speaks the loudest and happily so.
And yes, now that you mention it, I do remember someone telling me you had stopped by. Normally having a good memory could be SMC or maybe some other show. Admittedly, it was quite busy back then! We'll be at SMC again this October, so looking forward to continuing the conversation in person when you pass by.
Thanks for taking the time to share your point of view, and maybe see you at SMC.
