Four years after the planned integration in the arsenal of Air Force air platform early warning and control ASEPE Erieye / VAC-145I still missing, causing major problems for the Greek air defense system.
Despite great efforts on the part of GEA and on the part of GDAEE for the earliest possible resolution of problems of the programme, the manufacturer Saab Microwaves Systems (formerly Ericsson Microwaves Systems) «not help at all to find a solution», as indicate a high-level source of the General Staff Aviation.

It is from that side GDAEE had done all that preparation in order to allow receipt ASEPE Erieye / VAC-145I last March but has not been possible.
It is also interesting that the weakness of the prime contractor to settle the issue of timely registration of aircraft to enable the continuation of contractual work programme in our country immediately after delivery of equipment and GFE as the inability of Saab to complete the checks acceptance system for non-implementation of contractual specifications of the system and particularly the mission data links caused a delay of more than three years in the program!
It was preceded by the lack of timely guarantee from the Greek side of the equipment GFE, delivered with a delay of 26 months to prime contractor.
All this merely confirms the wrong decision for the selection of the combination in 1999, as we are now in fifth year (!) Delay in delivery of the aircraft, almost ten years after ordering them in 1999 and instead of ASEPE Erieye / VAC-145I in a standing position «black hole» the Greek air defense system. This is a record delay in delivery system to the Greek Armed Forces and wonder how responsibilities have not prompted by the military or civil justice in this matter.
Indeed, as highlighted features senior officer in the PA, «The system if and when received, will be relatively obsolete, since they designed and constructed with standards prevailing in the last decade. Even if it had included in regular service in April 2004 as stated in the contract for the supply, today should be discussed on the programme of upgrading the electronic ».

At the same time Turkey, Turkish Airlines has already informally to integrate the strength of the respective first aircraft. The selection of Boeing 737/MESA, much higher capacity than the Greek, despite the fact that the supply was decided five years after the purchase decision of the Greek Erieye / VAC-145I and despite the fact that there because of the high technological level Turkish platform (no relation to the limited possibilities Erieye) have been significant delays (and indeed enforcement clause in producing company by the Turkish government) but delivered earlier by the Greek.
All this is not left without unpleasant consequences for Saab Microwaves Systems whose proposals for other systems such as for upgrading the radar Super Giraffe (Homer) used by the system antiaeroporiko «ARROW» the PA, essentially «closed» without further discussion by the PA.
