;)Sind den die V9 überhaupt schon bestellt worden? :?!
TuAF Orders AN/APG-68[V]9 for PO IV and PO III F-16s
In December ‘o7 Northrop Grumman received a US$730 Million contract from the US Department of Defence [DoD] for the delivery of 514 AN/APG-68[V]9 radar systems. The first 3o radars, valued at US$36 Million, are to be supplied to the government of Turkey under a Foreign Military Sale [FMS] agreement for use on the Advanced F-16C/D Block 50s to be procured under the PO IV project.
Turkey has also recently ordered 2oo AN/APG-68[V]9 upgrade kits for its Peace Onyx III F-16C/Ds. The PO III Modernisation Programme, covering the major systems upgrade of 214 F-16C/Ds, kicked off at Turkish Aerospace Industries [TAI] with the arrival of the first four F-16s [1 F-16D Block 40, 1 F-16D Block 50, 1 F-16C Block 40 and 1 F-16C Block 50] at TAI’s facilities on July 2, 2007. The baseline programme includes upgrade kits for 37 Block 30s, 76 Block 50s and four Block 40s with an option for 1oo more. However, TuAF currently has 73 Block 50, 101 Block 40 and 37 Block 30 F-16C/Ds. The Block 30 F-16s will receive only limited modernisation and are not expected to be installed with, for example, the AN/APG-68[V]9 multimode radar. A total of 174 AN/APG-68[V]9 upgrade kits are expected to be installed on the Block 40 and Block 50 aircraft, and remaining are expected to be used as spares for PO III and PO IV F-16C/Ds, as TuAF did not order spare radars for the Advanced F-16C/D Block 50s.
In comparison with previous AN/APG-68 radars, the [V]9 model offers improved detection range and resolution in both air-air and air-ground modes. In air-air mode, the AN/APG-68[V]9 offers 33% longer detection ranges and can search in a larger volume while tracking up to four targets. In air-ground mode, its Synthetic Aperture Radar [SAR] mode enables high-resolution ground mapping for 24 hours and an all-weather precision strike capability.
